Huronia Trails and Greenways

The organization was founded in 1992, following the recommendations of a Simcoe County Greenways study, which suggested that abandoned raillines be kept in the public domain and be developed as recreational corridors. Our organization lobbied for the preservation of those corridors, and the development of a comprehensive trails network in Simcoe County.

As an organization, we value:

  • The safe and responsible use of trails
  • The inclusiveness of all user types wherever possible
  • The involvement of all stakeholders in achieving our mission.

Huronia Trails and Greenways is locally also coordinating the development of the Trans Canada Trail in Simcoe County.

Huronia Trails and Greenways was incorporated and received charitable status in 1998.

We receive program funding from foundations and through government grants, but our operating cost is dependant on funding raised from our Help Trails Grow vehicle recycling program. Click here for more information.
