Trail Volunteers

Trail Volunteers spread wood chips on a side trail of the Thornton-Cookstown Trans Canada Trail.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to get to know the people in your community and to help make it a better place for everyone to live and enjoy.  Huronia Trails and Greenways and other trail groups around the county are always looking for volunteers to help with a number of projects. Check the list below for a variety of volunteer opportunities.

Join the Trail Patrol

Adopt-A-Trail project with your school, youth or community group

Help with trail research

Coordinate or volunteer at events

Help with trail construction projects

Help with public and media relations

Lead guided hikes on trails

Become a member of the Trail Management Committee

Make a donation

Planting trees and shrubs

Fundraising

Cutting grass

Assisting with displays

Inventory plants and animals along trail

Phoning volunteers or newspapers 

Writing thanks you letters

Help with school events and presentations

Promote trail etiquette

Writing press releases or display material

Volunteer opportunities range from a few minutes to as many hours as you like.
