Cut through fresh powder in a winter wonderland. Every stride is an adventure.
Cross-country skiing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in winter. Trails that you walked in summer can be used for a January excursion with a little equipment and know-how. Better yet, there are multiple skiing facilities throughout Simcoe County offering groomed trails and amenities to experienced and new skiers alike. Head out for an afternoon on the trail, get some awesome exercise and take in breathtaking scenery. Finish with some hot chocolate and engaging conversation in the chalet. Or, take the kids out for a low-cost family outing, where everyone gets to have some active fun.

“Dave was surprised how much the kids liked it, but I never said I told you so. Now we’re thinking of getting a couple of used sets. It looks like we’ll make a habit of it.”
Most of the major trails accommodate cross country skiing, as well as the conservation areas, provincial parks, Simcoe County Forests, etc.
There are also several commercial operators who offer groomed trails of various difficulty levels, such as Hardwood Hills north of Barrie, the Duntroon Ski Club, the Nordic Centre in Wasaga Beach, etc.
