The majority of the trails in Simcoe County prefer that horses are kept to the slow paces of walk and trot. Canter/loping should be done only when visibility and trail conditions are good. Speed causes the horse to dig in a little deeper and therefore leave divots behind which affect the other user groups. Cyclists really don't appreciate the divots.
The county forests are lovely for riding and allow all users and all speeds from the horses. There are also many great trailer parking areas for people to park and have lovely day rides.
Copeland Forest is one such destination, as well as the County Tracts in the Midhurst area.
